With the 2010 Winter Games well on their way, Vancouver is beginning to feel the heat of the Olympic torch--quite literally.
The internationally renowned flame is set to make its way across all 10 Canadian provinces, even reaching the northern most part of Nunavut. The selected 12,000 torchbearers, ranging from athletes to aboriginal participants, are scheduled to carry the flame a celebratory 100 days prior to the opening ceremony.
It's no surprise that these are exciting times for Canadians, who haven't seen an Olympic game since Calgary's 1988 host selection; the same year that Wayne Gretzky was traded to the Los Angeles Kings and Bruce Willis came out with his acclaimed performance in the first Die Hard. Yes... 1988 was a good year.
To settle enthusiasts anxiety, the Vancouver Olympic Committee (VANOC) has come up with a clever interactive map to help viewers track the flames progress. And unlike 2008's iffy torch troubles, Canadian niceness is sure to keep this fire burning bright.
