2010 Snow Festivals Guide

Over the last few years, a new breed of events which combine snow fun with music have cropped up all over the world. Offering you the chance to ride by day and party by night to world-class DJs and bands, these festivals offer a great alternative to the traditional week-long package holiday – if you can hack the pace. Here’s our round up of what’s happening when this winter:

The Big Snow Festival
March 14 – 21, Arinsal, Andorra

A new event hitting Andorra with Calvin Harris already lined up to headline. A host of other well-known DJs and labels are also on board – including Kissy Sell Out, Ninja Tune and Brandon Block. Packages incorporating flights, accommodation, lift pass and access to all events start at just £399. Put down £50 to reserve yours through the early bird offer now.

Snowbombing
April 5 – 10 Mayrhofen, Austria

Featuring a forest party, arctic disco and a massive street party, Snowboming has grown into a huge event attracting amazing dance acts and indie/rock bands to the Austrian resort.  A range of accommodation options ranging from swank hotels to simple self-catering are is available. You can put down a £100 deposit to secure your place and pay the rest in February. Line-up to be announced soon.

The Brits
March 21-26 – Laax, Switzerland

As well as providing the chance for British skiers and snowboards to compete against each other at world-class freestyle facilities, the Brits have become a huge week-long party. There’s daily après music as well as huge club nights – all accessible with a Brits writstband. Packages start at just £230 per person for accommodation at the notorious party pad the Rider’s Palace, including lift pass, event pass and goodie bag.

Altitude Festival
March 20 – 26 – Meribel, France

Back for its third year, the Altitude Festival brings top name comedians from the UK, France, Canada and the US to the Alps and mixes it up with free live music, international DJs and slopestyle competitions. Confirmed performers include Omid Djalili, Ardal O’Hanlon and Andrew Maxwell. You can buy a pass for individual shows or save some cash with a three or five gig ticket.

Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival
April 2010 - Whistler, Canada

This 10 day event takes over Whistler every April and features top pro rider ski and snowboard contests and a heap of parties and live gigs. No news yet on what’s planned for the 2010 bash but will let you know as soon as we find out.
