The New York Times has an article in their business section called "On a Board, Shredding and Stomping, But Mostly Falling". It's about a 58 year old man learning to snowboard at Whiteface. I applaud him for learning, but most of the snowboard lingo and actions he's describing I've never heard of.

An example:
“Shredding it” meant riding your board on its edges. “Dropping in” meant pointing the nose of your board downhill. When you failed to execute a forward-leaning toe turn, you were supposed to “Superman” — dive forward with your arms extended to break your fall. When you failed to execute a backward-leaning heel turn, you were supposed to “staple yourself to the hill” — fall backward onto (what else?) your butt.

The only term that is remotely correct is Superman, even though it's actually more of a result than a preventative action. I've never heard anyone say staple yourself to the hill, and dropping in and shredding it are totally incorrect.

But I do have to give him props for "stomping a box" on his third day. ;)
