Press Day Frenzy

It's only in the last couple of years that I've started getting invited to press days. These are events where the London-based PR companies looking after media for the various streetwear and snowboard brands fill their display racks with next season's finest, fill their fridges with cold beer and Diet Coke and invite the press to come and check out their wares - after signing in at the all important sign-in book by the door.

I've been to four press days in the last two weeks and have my final one of the season tomorrow. I've seen WESC, Vans, Gravis, Burton, Rip Curl, Patagonia, Merrell, Eastpak, Alpinestars, Oakley, Etnies, Nike, Billabong and many more. Obviously you come out of these events hating everything in your wardrobe and wanting to buy everything you've seen for next season.

And by season I mean next winter. Yep, we roll up in our flip-flops, to ooh and ahh at next season's winter woolies. Obviously some of it we've already seen at the winter trade shows earlier in the year but it's still a great chance to meet people you know only by email, check out the goods up close and, of course, pick up a few freebies along the way.

Now the catalogues are all filed, ready to plunder for ideas of shopportunities to show you powderroomies for next winter.

Roll on the summer 2008 spread!
