The Russian resort of Sochi has been chosen to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
The seaside resort city secured the games after wining 51 votes – just four more than its nearest rival Pyeongchang in South Korea – in the second and final round of voting.
In earlier voting, the third contender Salzburg in Austria was eliminated.
Ski and snowboard events will be held at the Krasnaya Polyana ski resort, 30 miles from the Black Sea coast.
"What a fabulous opportunity we have with the selection of Sochi as the 2014 Olympic site!" said US Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) President and CEO Bill Marolt. "It's a chance to take our sports to a new and truly fascinating destination in the Caucasus Mountains along the Russian Riviera of the Black Sea."
