The Burton European Open finished up today with the halfpipe finals. Kelly Clark claimed her second BEO title with runs that had huge amplitude. Kelly was excited about her first run, “My run today was definitely one of the best I’ve ever had.” Her run included a huge frontside air on the first hit, backside 540 mute, frontside 540 tail grab, indy grab and finishing things off with a frontside 720 mute. Kelly never lost the top spot after her first run. Aussie Torah Bright took 2nd place and fellow Burton rider Hannah Teter claimed 3rd.
Kevin Pearce toppled Shaun White from the top of the podium with a run that included back to back 1080s. “The contest was exciting,” said Kevin. “I had to drop after Shaun in all three runs, which was super nerve-wracking. But in my last run, I just went for it. My wining run was literally the first time I’ve ever landed back-to-back 1080s in a pipe – even in practice. It felt really good to win – the contest, pipe and weather was amazing today – so I’m super stoked." Shaun White was left with a second place finish, while Finnish rider Peetu Piiroinen took third.
The Burton European Open is a stop on the Burton Global Open Series - the winner of which takes home $100,000. The next stop is the Nikkon Open in Japan. Jamie Anderson and Mason Aguirre are the current points leaders.
