Main Event Snowboarding Competition coming to Mount Snow on February 3

On February 3, the Main Event snowboard competition will be held at Mount Snow, Vermont. Up for grabs is a cash purse and a chance to win a wild card spot to compete in the Burton US Open. The slopestyle event features the best riders in New England in one of the largest terrain parks in New England, the Vermontster at Mount Snow.

Now in its fifth year, this four-stop series comes to southern Vermont for the first time ever. Top male and female finishers move on to the finals on February 10. Overall first-place finishers in the pro category receive the coveted wild card spot.

Riders compete in either the pro or amateur level, dubbed the “heavyweight” and “lightweight” categories. There are no age categories. Heavyweights ride for a cash prize and the U.S. Open spot, while lightweights compete for prizes.

“We’re very excited to be hosting an event with such buzz around New England,” said Mount Snow Events Director Greg Fisher. “This is a grassroots event that has grown into a major competition. Plus, a lot of the buzz is about showing which New England state has the best riders.”

Dubbed a “mini slopestyle” event for its three-feature terrain park setup, competitors will be judged for their style and technical ability on one jump and a choice of two different rails. Competitors are allowed two runs, with the better score counted.

Spectators can watch the show which is a short walk from the Carinthia base lodge. For more information, visit www.mountsnow.com
