Japanese riders have won the men’s and women’s halfpipe competitions in the Asian Winter Games at China’s Beidahu ski resort.
Kazuhiro Kokubo took the men's halfpipe title and Shiho Nakashima topped the women’s podium.
China’s Shi Wancheng was the surprise male silver medalist with another Japanese rider Daisuke Murakami taking bronze.
"The qualification jump was depressing, but the coach told me to stay calm," said 17-year-old Shi after his early wobble.
"The Chinese are getting underway in snowboard but they still need to improve in skills and competing experience," said Jibu Tadashige, team manager of the Japanese snowboard squad.
