A new backcountry terrain area is opening in the Mt Potts area in New Zealand this winter season.

The 380 hectares contains steep faces, chutes, rock drops, cornices, wide open powder bowls and gullies.

It costs $200 to access the terrain – which includes your first drop – and each subsequent lift costs $75. You can do as many as you like (or can afford).

There’ll be clinics and ski patrollers are always on hand to advise on the best terrain – and hopefully point out the best powder stashes.

Watch out for this area appearing in the magazines later in the year – it’s sure to be a photo-shoot hit.
