So after a few days checking out Banff, we headed along the highway, through more incredible mountains and past the Colombia Icefields, to Jasper. Talk about chalk and cheese.

I've never been to a ski resort out of season - until now. I'm in Banff, Alberta - and it's jawdroppingly gorgeous. It helps that we're staying in the penthouse at the Juniper Hotel - basically a massive bungalow looking right down the valley.
